Job :

You will be responsible for ensuring the optimization and safety of examinations and treatments involving ionizing radiation (PET/CT, SPECT/CT, targeted radionuclide therapy, theranostics, etc.).

Key responsibilities include:

1. Quality Control and Equipment Management:

Quality assurance:

• Quality control of equipment upon reception and regularly during clinical use.
• Define and perform quality control protocols (daily, weekly, annual) for various equipment.

Maintenance and calibration:

• Supervise the maintenance of hot lab equipment (shielded hoods, activity meters, etc.), Gamma cameras (PET/CT, SPECT/CT), counting probes, and radiation protection instruments.

Fleet management:

• Participate in the selection of new equipment in collaboration with users during the development of specifications, testing of devices, etc.
• Participate in the material vigilance process.

2. Dosimetry and Dose Optimization:

• Patient dosimetry: Evaluate and calculate doses delivered to the patient during diagnostic examinations and treatments (e.g., targeted radionuclide therapy, theranostics, etc.).
• Dosimetric calculation before therapy and evaluation of doses to organs and target areas.
• Dosimetric evaluation in case of incidents.
• Reference levels: Participate in the annual dosimetric evaluation and transmit dose records to the occupational physician.
• Protocols: Optimize acquisition and reconstruction parameters to ensure maximum image quality with the lowest possible dose (ALARA principle).

3. Radiation Protection

Protection of workers, patients, and the public:

• Ensure correct signage of service zones,
• Promote a culture of information and communication in radiation protection.
• Monitor staff exposure (doctors, technicians, nurses, secretaries, caregivers, etc.).
• Participate in patient radiation protection and dose control.
• Participate in informing patients and their companions about radiation protection.
• Participate in the development of diagnostic reference levels and the estimation of doses received by the population.
• Waste management: Validate procedures for the evacuation and decay of radioactive waste.

4. Research, Innovation, and Teaching

The medical physicist may be assigned activities that complement regulatory obligations and can also be integrated into the service's medical research team:

• Contribute to the implementation of new techniques (new radiotracers, gamma, beta, or alpha-emitting isotopes).
• Training/Teaching: Participate in theoretical and practical training sessions for the service's medical and paramedical staff, particularly in radiation protection, dosimetry, and medical physics.
• Participate in university teaching activities: Conduct biophysics practical sessions.
• Participate in continuous training and supervision within the service for residents, interns, technicians, students, and trainees, particularly in dosimetry, radiation protection, and quality control.
• Participate in the supervision of final theses for technicians and students from the institution's university programs in dosimetry, radiation protection, and medical physics.
• Participate in the establishment of DU (University Diploma) or Master's programs, in collaboration with the head of the department.
• Clinical research: Collaborate on service research projects related to quantification in diagnostics, therapy, radiation protection, quality control, and dosimetry. 

Required profile :

Education:

• Master's degree or engineering degree in physics.
• Specialized training in:

        Radiotherapy

        Nuclear medicine

        Diagnostic radiology

        Radiation protection

Experience:

Proven experience (5 years minimum) in similar roles.
