Veterinarian/Breeding and Livestock Manager (M/F) - Marrakech

Created in 2003, under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture and Maritime Fisheries, the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Horses (SOREC) has the main missions of supervising livestock, developing horse racing and managing horse racing games in Morocco.

Through its mission, SOREC oversees equestrian societies, supports breeding programs as a partner of breeders' associations and ensures the improvement of national equestrian infrastructure.      

In addition, SOREC is engaged in a policy aimed at improving the competitiveness of Moroccan breeding and revitalizing the horse market.

SOREC covers the entire country with 5 stud farms, 43 breeding stations and 11 equine breeding promotion centers, in addition to numerous collaborations with the main equine associations in the kingdom.

Job :

Reporting to the head of breeding and livestock, your mission will be to contribute to the execution of the roadmap for breeding and livestock by supervising processes related to the health, reproduction, and identification of horses. As such, your main activities will be:

Implement Equine Breeding and Livestock objectives on technical and administrative levels:

• - Ensure compliance with breeding procedures to guarantee the quality and conformity of practices
• - Provide close gynecological monitoring of mares at the Stud Farm's breeding center, ensuring their well-being and health
• - Ensure the smooth running of the breeding season at the Stud Farm and in the breeding centers in your region
• - Actively participate in organizing the allocation of resources, whether qualified personnel or stallions, within the breeding centers affiliated with the Stud Farm
• - Ensure, supervise, and manage the entire horse identification process, from initial approval to their registration in the studbook, ensuring their traceability and adequate follow-up
• - Ensure the completeness and accuracy of documentary databases in information systems, guaranteeing efficient information management
• - Maintain vigilant monitoring of supplies and quality of stocks related to reproduction, ensuring that the necessary resources are available to support ongoing operations

Monitor horse health and well-being:

• - Establish and follow a health prophylaxis calendar to ensure the preventive health of horses
• - Develop and monitor the feeding program, including distribution, to maintain adequate and balanced nutrition
• - Establish and monitor a farriery program to maintain the health of horses' hooves and feet
• - Provide curative treatments when necessary to ensure the recovery of sick or injured horses
• - Supervise and monitor the interventions of contracted veterinarians to ensure appropriate medical care
• - Ensure the monitoring of supplies and the quality of stocks related to the management of stables and horses to maintain necessary resources
• - Establish and monitor a horse training program to ensure their physical condition, training, and well-being

Reporting and Performance Monitoring:

• - Monitor reproduction indicators, collecting data and analyzing the performance of reproduction processes
• - Generate periodic reports on reproduction, providing quantitative information and trend analyses

Team Management:

• - Supervise, motivate, develop, and drive team performance

Required profile :

As a potential candidate, you:

• Are a veterinarian with 5 to 10 years of proven experience, ideally in the equine world;
• Manage equine reproduction
• Have knowledge of breeding and insemination procedures
• Manage the feeding of horses and the stables of breeding stallions
• Manage teams and drive performance
• Are results-oriented
• Are rigorous and have organizational skills
