Self-confidence is important in your professional life. You need to believe in your abilities when you apply for a job. And on your first day of work, a good dose of self-confidence is always welcome! Here are ten tips to help you feel more confident.
1. Choose clothes you feel good in
You've probably already noticed that you feel better in the clothes you like... And it shows: you radiate more! For a job interview, don't just choose an outfit you find chic. Choose the one you feel good in.
2. Smile
This is probably the simplest advice of all, but it works! Your self-confidence is expressed in your smile. Your interlocutors will react positively and you will feel even more at ease. But be careful, don't overdo it: smiling excessively could be considered a sign of nervousness.
3. Make a list of your successes
You have certainly already accomplished things you are proud of. If you lack self-confidence, make a list of your successes; it will serve as a reference. Consult it before an important interview. You will feel stronger and more confident.
4. Work on your weaknesses
You are probably aware of your weaknesses. For example, you lack organization? Prepare a schedule and organize your work in the most structured way possible. After a while, you will notice that you are improving. A nice boost to boost your self-confidence!
5. Look your interlocutor in the eye
If you are rather shy, it is not always easy to seek eye contact. However, this contact is essential if you want to present yourself as a confident person. Try to look your interlocutor in the eyes until you can determine their color. No longer, otherwise it becomes awkward. Practice with a friend or relative.
6. Cultivate positivism
By seeing things from the bright side, you will automatically be better perceived by those around you. Everyone prefers positive people to pessimists. A person who radiates optimism also gives the impression of having more confidence in themselves.
7. Ask for feedback
You may not know what others think of you. Don't hesitate to discreetly ask them what they think of your work. If they think you are doing a good job, your self-confidence can only be strengthened. In a job interview, it is of course difficult to ask your interlocutor what they think of you; however, you can ask your friends how they see you and what points you could improve to make a better first impression.
8. Do what you love.
We are always more efficient when we do what we love! You will therefore work all the better if you find a job that suits you. And your self-confidence will naturally flourish. If you apply for a job that really suits you, it will be easier for you to sell yourself.
9. Live healthily
Eat a balanced diet, sleep well and get enough exercise: you will feel better in your skin and it will show. And you will sell yourself more easily during a job interview or during your first big meeting in your new job.
10. Believe in yourself
An important meeting or a job interview coming up? Boost yourself before you go. Think, for example, about past projects you have successfully completed, about positive things and about everything you are good at. It's all in the head! If you are convinced that you can do it, you will do it.
