To climb the ladder, you need to know how to sell yourself. Even if you regularly do good work, you will gain little from it if you don't use it to highlight yourself...
Forbes magazine listed 10 tips to impress your boss.
1. Tell your story
Prepare a short summary of your career and yourself in advance. You can then easily introduce them to new people.
2. Don't be shy
Always be present at meetings. Watch your body language and clothing and, if necessary, take a course to learn how to speak in public.
3. Make a list of your accomplishments
You can easily list them as part of a performance review.
4. Cultivate your network
At events, but also online. In any case, keep your profile up-to-date on LinkedIn. You will thus remain present on the map outside your own company.
5. Be indispensable
If you excel in certain skills, fully exploit them. You will thus become indispensable and will have credit with your boss.
6. Make yourself visible
Look for problems your company is facing and try to find solutions.
7. Help others
Know what your boss finds important and let him know that you are always ready to step in.
8. Accept compliments
Don't reject a compliment, but accept it. A simple "thank you" is enough.
9. Promote your colleagues
When you help others, you help yourself. Congratulate your colleagues and subtly let your boss know.
10. Be yourself.
