100 Million Dollars for Employment and Micro-Businesses in Morocco. What About Franchises?

The World Bank announced on August 26th the allocation of $100 million to the Moroccan government to boost employment. The Moroccan government has been active on this front with several reforms in recent years. These include signing contracts with thirteen new private vocational training providers and launching a support program for NGOs to provide training to young, out-of-school people from disadvantaged backgrounds. A bill promoting micro-businesses has been passed, and a National Employment Observatory has been set up.

What will this $100 million be used for?
With this allocation, called the "Second Development Policy Loan on Skills and Employment," Morocco is committed to improving access for disadvantaged groups and promoting micro-businesses. Nothing specific was mentioned regarding micro-franchises, but there's no reason to assume they would be excluded.

Initially, the government will focus on implementing new reforms to improve education and training programs to strengthen student learning. To better support young graduates, employment services like the National Agency for the Promotion of Employment and Skills (ANAPEC) will receive enhanced capabilities to better guide and advise young people entering the workforce.
