154,000: This is the number of people recruited in the public sector between 2012 and 2013, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
According to the INS, the state recruited 53,000 civil servants in 2012. This figure almost doubled during the first six months of 2013, reaching 101,000 additional civil servants.
Mourad Hattab, an economic expert, stated today on Radio Shems FM that the Troika, composed of Ennahdha, the Congress for the Republic, and Ettakatol, used the funds and credits granted to it to recruit and pay salaries instead of using them for economic development.
