5 tips to get on your boss's good side

Even if office life isn't always easy, it's best to be on good terms with your boss to avoid dreading going to work in the morning. Terrafemina gives you five tips to quickly become your boss's favorite!

Work is where we spend most of our time during the week. So, it's best to make that time as pleasant as possible, and this (almost) necessarily involves a good relationship between you and your boss. So, even if you have the hardest time in the world with your manager, it's best to do everything you can to keep it from showing and become their favorite! Here are five tips to quickly get on your boss's good side and come to work with a smile.

1. Don't skimp on initiative

Being active, not hesitating to suggest things, and showing that you're interested in company life are key to being appreciated at your true value by your superior. However, this doesn't mean you should get distracted and run around, but a proactive attitude is often well-received in a company.
What not to do: propose new ideas every day and never follow through on those already proposed. You will exhaust your boss, who will only want you to take a few days off to catch your breath.

2. Avoid complaining about everything

Of course, life in your company is far from perfect, but it's the same everywhere, and constantly complaining about disappearing ink cartridges or the noise in the open space will probably not be well-received by your boss. Just point out the real problems, those that concern a majority of employees, this will be much better considered.
What not to do: make everything about yourself and spend your time in your boss's office whining about what's wrong. Besides being totally counterproductive, it's also very annoying. Finding a balance is essential in the workplace.

3. Take the time to communicate

The line between doing too much and not enough is sometimes thin, but it's important to find the right balance. Not communicating at all with your boss will make you less visible within the company and will not encourage them to help you grow or offer you new opportunities.
What not to do: stay in your corner all the time and let yourself be forgotten. How can you get on someone's good side if they don't even know if you were at your desk yesterday?

4. Don't impose yourself too much

As you've understood, to become your boss's favorite, you will need to be present and active in order to exist in their eyes. However, this doesn't mean you should spend your entire lunch break chatting with your manager about their weekend in Corsica or spend your day going back and forth between your office and theirs.
What to do: let your boss breathe and respect their space are two essential rules.

5. Be indispensable, but not too much

The best way to be appreciated by your boss is obviously to prove that you are perfectly irreplaceable within the company and that they couldn't do without you. However, be careful not to overdo it, otherwise, once again, you risk scaring them.
What not to do: constantly put yourself forward, because nobody likes show-offs.
