500 Small Businesses to Create 3,000 Jobs Over the Next 5 Years

The next five years will see rapid growth in Tunisia's service network operating under the original designation (franchise), with the creation of 500 small businesses, expected to generate 3,000 jobs with a budget of around 300,000 dinars.
This is the ultimate goal of a tripartite agreement signed on Thursday, October 21 in Tunis, between the National Agency for Employment and Self-Employment (ANETI), the Bank for Financing Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (BFPME), and Monoprix, concerning operating contracts under the original designation.
The agreement, whose signing ceremony was chaired by Mr. Mohamed Agrebi, Minister of Vocational Training and Employment, reveals that Monoprix will set up a network of small businesses managed by self-employed workers among university graduates in the field of distribution. This will be done through operating contracts under the company's original designation.
As for the second signatory, ANETI will be responsible for information campaigns on the employment and self-employment opportunities provided by these contracts.
In collaboration with Monoprix and BFPME, the Agency will also oversee the selection of young people wishing to create small businesses, as it will focus on their training through adaptation sessions, assisting them in realizing their project ideas, and preparing their work plans, as part of the support program for small business promoters…
The Bank for Financing Small and Medium-sized Enterprises undertakes, through this agreement, to provide the necessary financing within 20 days.
"This agreement is the first of its kind, a year after the promulgation of the law of August 12, 2009, which organized operating contracts under the original designation. It is part of the achievement of the objectives of the presidential program for the coming period and aims to promote employability, develop the spirit of initiative among young people, and encourage private investment," stressed Mr. Mohamed Agrebi during the signing ceremony.
Concerning distribution trade at the end of 2009, this law, added the Minister, "encourages these activities through the exchange of expertise and technical skills. The network operating under the original designation operates according to unified commercial practices and a label."
