6 Negative Thoughts That Sabotage Your Future

Your way of thinking determines your lifestyle. This will in turn directly influence your future. By remaining stuck in a negative spiral, you probably don't see a rosy future. So banish this negative mentality and avoid blocking thoughts. Many of us have a mistaken idea of what is essential and cling to their negative ideas. Here are some notions that at first seem to evoke success but which, on closer inspection, are not so productive.
1. Our future automatically depends on our past
False! It is not always easy to let go of past events. These often build our personality. But they should not be overestimated. Have you failed in the past? Have you made bad choices? Made a mistake? No need to persecute yourself for centuries!
Do you have new opportunities? Take them! Don't let past anxieties sabotage your existence. You took a risk and everything didn't go as planned? So what? Why should you repeat the experience? It's always allowed to fail. Experience makes you grow, you learn from it. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. It's not by staying on your couch that you will move mountains. Stick to constructive experiences and don't let others bring you down.
2. Your future is all mapped out
No! You have your future in your hands. Sometimes life is associated with happiness, sometimes it runs into a problem, it's necessary. But as a general rule, you are in control. It's up to you to make the right decisions. It is not coherent to constantly attribute the reasons for your successes or failures to external factors, because there are many situations that you can yourself reverse, manipulate, or simply manage. Seize the opportunities that present themselves and allow yourself a minimum of spontaneity. Your life, your decisions, your future, it's all yours!
3. Only perfectionists succeed
Quite the contrary. It is notably by wanting to be perfect that you sabotage yourself. Those who only want perfection often set the bar so high that they cannot reach it. Set realistic goals and make sure you achieve them correctly. Don't forget that to err is human. A mistake can always happen. Perfectionists will have more difficulty in accepting setbacks and will be prone to the fear of failure. Often, they will have difficulty putting a small past mistake into perspective and will be obsessed by the slightest misstep.
4. Self-image depends on the opinions of others
Asking for feedback is very good, as both criticism and compliments can be useful. However, be careful, don't give too much value to external opinions. What others think of you or your work is subjective. In most cases, it will be an extrapolation of their own experience. Your mother, a friend, a journalist or a professional partner will each judge you in their own way. You forge your own success, don't let your image depend on others. You know better than anyone how much time, energy and creativity you have invested in an idea or a mission.
5. Habits, that's all there is!
Not really, because everything is subject to improvement. Do you have a successful routine? Of course, you don't necessarily have to change it. It's good to have certain habits that you stick to, but be careful that it doesn't suffocate you.
Some of us have bad habits and, as they recognize them, unconsciously associate them with their personality. Then they have difficulty getting rid of them because they have become character traits. Example: a colleague says 'I have no discipline'. It's good to be aware of it, but if you don't intend to do anything about it, you won't evolve much. It's not because it was that way in the past that it can't change in the future.
6. You must follow your emotions
It is sometimes advisable to listen to what one feels deep down inside oneself. However, when you are striving for success, it is certainly not a bad idea to analyze your emotions. Learn to know yourself by studying your feelings and achievements as objectively as possible.
You will thus learn to better understand and relativize things. Do you notice that you often react emotionally and exaggeratedly to a given situation? You are always free to learn to adjust your reflex by objectively analyzing the actions and their usual outcome. Tell yourself that after all, you are still alive…
