National Crafts Day Coming Soon

The Ministry of Commerce and Crafts will organize a national crafts day where participants will discuss problems and solutions to save the sector.

This decision was announced Tuesday by Abdelwaheb Maatatar, Minister of Commerce, during his visit to the craft village of Denden (Manouba governorate), according to a ministry statement.

He stated that his department has begun developing a specific program for the development of crafts, which will be given by improving the infrastructure of the craft village of Denden.

The document adds that Mr. Maatatar expressed "his regret at the deterioration of the infrastructure of the craft village which can be a pillar for the development of a job-creating sector."

The National Office of Crafts (ONA) must assume its responsibilities by working to solve the problems of artisans as quickly as possible, said the minister.

Mr. Maatatar also called for the redevelopment and restructuring of the crafts museum, which possesses rare craft pieces from different governorates of the country.
