You send resumes... but recruiters don't respond. The question is whether you're using the right methods. How to check? Advice from Bruno Fadda, associate director of the Robert Half recruitment firm.

First step: Audit your job search methods

For this, there's no secret, you need to ask for feedback from your contacts. The goal? By describing your application process and the results obtained, you'll get outside perspectives that should help pinpoint the problem in your applications. Who to ask? Preferably qualified people – that is, people who know the job requirements you're aiming for: this could be a professional contact, especially if they have already recruited in your target sector or role, or a recruitment agency. You can also ask a friend for their opinion, as they are likely to be objective about the overall impression made by your application.

Bruno Fadda's advice: "If possible, choose someone who knows your industry and your job. Review your network, your resume and cover letter/email, and your interview performance with them..."
