Five Thousand University Graduates Benefit from the Voluntary Civil Service Program

TUNIS, September 29, 2010 (TAP) - Some 5,000 young women and men, university graduates, have benefited from the voluntary civil service program since its launch. They were supervised by 1627 associations and professional organizations across the country.

This program aims to allow university graduates seeking their first job to complete internships in activities of general interest under the auspices of associations and professional organizations, for a maximum of one year, to help them acquire professional skills and qualifications.

This program also allows university graduates to engage in another activity during their internship or to become self-employed. This allows beneficiaries to stay in touch with the economic and social environment and acquire the necessary professional skills.

These internships also aim to stimulate a sense of citizenship in young people and instill a culture of participation and solidarity through activities related to, in particular, the supervision and care of the elderly and disabled, tutoring, cultural activities, environmental protection, and others.

The associations and professional organizations involved supervise these internships under agreements concluded with the Ministry of Vocational Training and Employment.

The employment and self-employment offices are responsible for individually supporting the beneficiaries and ensuring their integration into working life, whether through salaried work or a sole proprietorship.
