How to write your cover email?

reKrute.com_How_to_write_your_cover_email

While it's true that your resume and cover letter are essential, even major, it remains that it is the cover email that will create, in the recruiter, the desire to continue reading or the desire to stop there.

So, don't underestimate or rush this step of your application.

1) Respect the 3C rule

To: "Email Address"

Subject: Application for the position of "position title" (and reference number of the offer if it is present in the advertisement)

Dear Madam, Sir,

In response to your search for a "position title" published in "source of the offer (website, magazine...)", I am pleased to apply and, as such, please find attached my CV and cover letter.

Hoping to meet you soon.

With my best regards.

First Name Last Name

Address

Phone number

Short, clear and courteous. Follow the 3C rule to the letter.

It is absolutely not necessary to write a long text. On the contrary, this could discourage your recipient, who is pressed for time and looking for efficiency.
Never lose sight of the fact that the purpose of this cover email is to introduce your application and the two important documents you are going to attach, and not to start introducing yourself. This would only be redundant and terribly boring. This would only be redundant and terribly boring. Reminder: be very careful to attach the documents in question when you send the email.

2- Or write a "motivation email"

Some will opt for the application email: this time, it will be a question of writing a complete motivation letter, in the body of the email, and only attaching your CV.
In this specific case, think about working on the writing of this letter because it will be all that the recruiter will know about your motivations. In the subject line, enter the precise title of the position and/or the announcement number.
Then, write your letter in a classic, precise and organized way, taking care to respect the usual politeness formulas. Having an email support does not change the rules of the genre.
Moreover, concerning efficiency, the two forms are quite equivalent, as long as the writing is correct and the layout is clear and precise.
Therefore, you are free to choose one or the other, as long as your motivations are presented with talent and your skills appear quickly.
