Coaching Definition
Professional coaching is an ongoing relationship between the coach and the coachee. It is for anyone wishing to improve their professional and personal lives, focusing on the individual to provide the support needed to take the necessary steps towards achieving their vision, goals, or desires.
Coaching uses a process of personal research and exploration to raise awareness and accountability in all areas of a person's life. This process provides the coachee with structure, support, and feedback. The main tools used are questioning, accountability, dynamic action planning, goal setting, and strategic planning.
Coaching is for individuals, whether at an organizational or private level, who, among other things:
- Want to function better in their lives
- Are looking for motivation, a goal, a strategy
- Want to learn and seek a better balance in their lives
The coaching approach is:
- To guide the person towards problem-solving through action
- To be attentive to clues that can lead the coachee to action
- To help the person clarify their values and align their actions with them
- To encourage a proactive attitude
- To give advice in the coach's areas of expertise and with the coachee's permission.
