A job creation program will soon begin for young people in Jendouba, Siliana, and Bizerte.
Called the "Youth Employment Generation Program in Tunisia", this initiative aims to improve the self-employability of young women and men through better access to technical, professional, and entrepreneurship training opportunities. Particular attention is given to green sectors.
It also aims to increase internship opportunities in private companies and other institutions for young people and to collaboratively develop regional employment strategies and action plans.
The project will be implemented over a one-year period as a collaboration between the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) office in Tunis, the General Commissariat for Regional Development (CGDR), and the Northwest Development Office (ODNO). A document regarding the implementation of this mechanism was signed on Monday in Tunis by the three partners.
The program to promote youth employment in Tunisia is part of a regional UNDP initiative covering 5 countries (Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, and Tunisia). This action aims to promote youth employment in the green economy and to strengthen the professional skills of disadvantaged youth to enable them to access production sources and sustainable productivity potential.
It is funded by the Japanese government to the tune of $1.5 million.
