The Swiss Confederation has provided Tunisia with a 65 million dinar donation to fund development programs as part of its transition. Covering the period 2011-2016, it is intended to finance projects dedicated to three key areas: job creation and improvement of economic and social conditions in the most disadvantaged inland regions of Tunisia; support for the democratic transition, including assistance in the recovery of illicit assets of politically exposed persons located in Switzerland; and strengthening the protection of vulnerable people and migration management, with a special emphasis on the contribution of migration to development in Tunisia.
To this end, an Agreement between the Government of the Tunisian Republic and the Government of the Swiss Confederation concerning the implementation of the Swiss support program for the transition in Tunisia has entered into force. Represented by the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the one hand, and the Swiss Embassy in Tunisia on the other, Mr. Secretary of State Radhouane Nouisser and Mr. Ambassador Pierre Combernous signed a cooperation agreement on Friday concerning this donation.
