Youth Employment in the Logistics Sector: A Cooperation Agreement Signed

Launched by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in Tunisia, Egypt, Jordan, and Morocco, the E4E program, which aims to equip young future workers with the training and skills required by businesses, is now investing in the world of logistics in Morocco.

Indeed, Joumana Cobein, head of the IFC office in Morocco, and Younes Tazi, director general of the Moroccan Agency for Logistics Development (AMDL), signed a cooperation agreement on Monday in Rabat, aimed at designing and implementing indicators relating to training and employment in this sector.

The agreement affirms the willingness of the World Bank subsidiary to support the AMDL, including through the development of an electronic platform to help identify career opportunities and highlight the diplomas and skills expected by companies.

This cooperation project, mainly financed by the IFC, will span 30 months and will help better guide training institutes in defining and building their modules and programs.

Business Needs, Youth Skills

At this event, the Minister of Equipment and Transport, Aziz Rabbah, emphasized the role of human resources in the country's development and the importance of investing in their training and skills development, especially for a sector as promising as logistics.

For her part, Ms. Cobein stated that the signing of this agreement is part of the implementation of an electronic platform.
“This is an innovative platform designed to better identify, on the one hand, the needs of companies operating in logistics and, on the other hand, the skills of young people in this sector.”

For his part, Younes Tazi affirmed that this agreement aims to support the employment-training component of the Moroccan Observatory of Logistics Competitiveness, as part of a partnership with the private sector, in order to develop tools that allow all stakeholders in the sector to better understand, in particular, the training offer, for better matching with demand.

“This project is part of a broader 'E4E Education for Employment' program conducted by the IFC in partnership with the Islamic Development Bank in the Arab world,” said Mr. Tazi.
