The German embassy has launched a new website showcasing various projects resulting from a partnership between Tunisia and Germany as part of cooperation and support for Tunisia's transition process. More than 100 projects are presented, totaling 50 million euros, spread over 2012 and 2013. These were launched through various organizations such as the GIZ (German Agency for International Cooperation), the Goethe Institute, Deutsche Welle Akademie, Sequa, German political foundations, and many others.
The main goal of this partnership is to improve the economic prospects of Tunisians and lay the groundwork for guaranteeing freedoms, civil and fundamental rights, and encouraging the independence and efficiency of state institutions. It mainly focuses on modernizing vocational training and promoting cooperation between universities in both countries.
The emphasis is on disadvantaged regions of Tunisia, trying to improve the living conditions of inhabitants in these isolated areas and strengthening the work of public services.
The actions specifically target teachers, journalists, civil servants, lawyers, judges, employees, students, trainees, and more generally Tunisian and German institutions and businesses that meet through a multitude of initiatives and work together.
German-Tunisian partnership projects are classified into three main themes: economy and employment, democracy and civil society, and media culture. Each project sheet presents the project beneficiaries and collaborators from both the German and Tunisian sides who enabled its development, as well as the results of these collaborations and some testimonials from participants.
