Of the 25,000 recruitments announced by the provisional government in the civil service for the year 2012, 2,359 positions are planned in higher education, including 1,101 assistant professors and 1,258 teaching assistants. These recruitments will be based on applications. The submission of applications for the position of assistant professor was set from April 30 to May 11, 2012, while that for the position of teaching assistant will run from May 31 to June 9.
Applications must be submitted electronically to the nearest universities, the Director General of Private Higher Education and Equivalence and head of the Department of University Exams and Competitions, Mounir Maali, told TAP. He added that candidates for these two positions must hold a doctorate. Recruitment and promotion committees composed of elected university professors and representatives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research will oversee the smooth running of these two competitions.
Each committee will, on the basis of an evaluation grid, grade each candidate's application, taking into account their university course and research (publications). It is required to inform the candidate of the reasons for refusal of their application, specified Mr. Maali.
Regarding the assignment of successful candidates, the official said that the ministry will ensure the distribution of these candidates to different universities across the country, taking into account the candidates' wishes, but above all the needs of the institutions.
It should be noted that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research launched, for the year 2012-2013, and as part of the promotion process, a competition for the positions of assistant professor (584), professor of higher education (225) and associate professor (272).
