Sidi Bouzid's New Dairy Plant Starts Production

Boubaker Mehri, CEO of the Delice Danone Group (food processing), announced on Thursday, September 12th, on Radio Express Fm that the Sidi Bouzid dairy plant, whose construction began in 2011, will begin production by March 2014 at the latest.

This represents a total investment of 80 MDT, with 55 MDT for the first phase. The plant will initially produce 400,000 liters of milk per day, before reaching its cruising speed of 600,000 liters per day, representing 20% of the Delice Danone Group's turnover.

According to Boubaker Mehri, the Sidi Bouzid dairy plant will be "the most modern plant in the group" and will have the advantage of immunizing the dairy industry in the central-west of the country, ensuring its longevity, and perpetuating, in addition to the 337 jobs that will be created in a first phase by this project, some 15,000 other indirect jobs in milk collection and transport centers in the governorates of Sfax, Sidi Bouzid, Kairouan, Kasserine, and Gafsa.

He described this project as "structuring" and capable of improving the attractiveness of the Sidi Bouzid region for other investors.

A word about the plant. It is built on an area of 10 hectares, will employ 337 people, including 100 executives (all from Sidi Bouzid), will process 400,000 liters per day (150 million liters per year), and will initially produce milk, butter, fermented milk, and clotted milk (lben and Raib).

And not to forget, the construction work on this plant has so far progressed at a rate of over 70%.
