A significant boost from the African Development Bank (AfDB) for the training sector in Morocco. Last July, the AfDB granted the Kingdom a loan of 116 million euros to finance the program supporting the alignment of training and employment.
This program will support reforms of the education and training system to improve youth employability and the management of the training-employment relationship.
Three components of the program are considered. First, there is the improvement of the relevance of technical education and vocational training to the needs of the labor market. There is also the improvement of the relevance and management of higher education, as well as intra-sectoral coordination and governance.
In addition to this 116 million euro loan to finance the program supporting the alignment of training and employment, the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the African Development Bank signed letters of agreement for two other financing projects.
The first concerns a grant of 344,000 euros from the Multi-Donor Trust Fund for Countries in Transition to finance a technical assistance project to identify skills needs in the construction and public works sector. This project aims to improve the training plan, develop a directory of jobs and professions and job skills references, and establish a capacity building plan for the National Federation of Building and Public Works (FNBTP).
The second financing agreement concerns a grant of 335,200 euros from the Multi-Donor Trust Fund for Countries in Transition to finance a technical assistance project for national dialogue on the new constitutional roles of civil society. This grant is provided to build confidence in institutional reforms, implement the provisions of the new Constitution, and promote the democratic process by establishing the rules of participatory democracy and public consultation.
