The number of graduates from vocational training could reach 750,000 next year, covering the period 2008-2012, compared to 474,800 for 2003-2008. This was stated Wednesday by the Minister of Employment and Vocational Training, Jamal Rhmani, noting a sustained increase in numbers over the past three years.
The Minister, who was responding to an oral question in the House of Representatives, stressed that the vocational training department plans to increase the number of trainees during the current school year to around 327,000 compared to 223,000 during 2006-2007. He added that the program to expand the department's capacity for the public sector between 2010 and 2012 includes the creation of 60 establishments and the expansion of 17 others.
Supporting Development Projects
The establishments to be created will support the National Pact for Industrial Take-off, the Green Morocco Plan and the 2012 vision for the crafts sector, as well as other sectoral plans such as tourism, relocation and maritime fishing, the Minister noted.
The vocational training department currently has 2066 establishments: 488 in the public sector and 1578 in the private sector, the Minister specified.
Referring to training through professional promotion, Mr. Rhmani stressed that until 2009, about 90,000 people had benefited from training, noting the creation of several professional promotion centers in the agriculture, maritime fishing, crafts and tourism sectors, as well as in and between companies, particularly in the textile, clothing, hotel and jewelry sectors.
He also noted that the Emergency Plan in the field of vocational training (professional promotion) provides for the establishment of six centers in the crafts sector to support "Vision 2015", seven other centers to be in line with the "Green Morocco" Plan, in addition to the extension of six other centers.
