Auto Industry: American Firm Delphi Creates 3,000 Jobs in Tangier

To support the development of its second production site in Tangier, which required an investment of 300 million dirhams, the American group Delphi is offering 3,000 new jobs this year.

In Tangier, Delphi Automotive Systems Morocco & Delphi Packard Tanger will create 3,000 new jobs this year. To support the development of its second production site, which required a 300 million dirham investment, Delphi will recruit new employees with the support of ANAPEC. This American group, specializing in the manufacturing of electrical and electronic systems for the automotive industry, is building a new factory on a 60-hectare site in the Tangier free zone. For this recruitment operation, an agreement was signed by Jose Carlos Jimenez, General Manager of Delphi Automotive Systems Morocco & Delphi Packard Tanger, and Hafid Kamal, General Manager of the National Agency for the Promotion of Employment and Skills (ANAPEC), on Monday, March 24th, in Tangier, in the presence of Jamal Rhmani, Minister of Employment and Vocational Training.
This new unit should be operational next August. Rhmani's department emphasizes that "this group, through its development, participates in the economic and social dynamism not only of the Tangier region but also of several regions in Morocco." "We received an order for 3,000 jobs from Delphi as part of its expansion project. Recruitment will take place through all ANAPEC agencies," specified Hafid Kamal, General Manager of ANAPEC.
According to the terms of this agreement, ANAPEC will contribute to the financing of contract-based training for employment. This is a customized training program that provides additional training to best match the selected profiles to the positions to be filled. It also involves keeping Delphi constantly informed of all current and future measures, in terms of financial or other incentives, decided by the State for job creation.
There is also the identification of the profiles sought using job descriptions provided by Delphi, the free posting of Delphi job offers, and the dissemination of these job offers on the ANAPEC website.
"The Delphi-ANAPEC partnership agreement, which concerns nearly 3,000 jobs in 2008, is marked by Delphi's deliberate intention to meet its human resource needs while ensuring improved employability for job seekers and involving INDH zones," a joint statement announces.
It should be noted that this partnership between Delphi and ANAPEC is not new. The American group has been an ANAPEC client since 2002. Delphi's headquarters are located in Michigan, USA. Worldwide, this group employs nearly 177,000 people at 161 production sites, including two in Morocco. Clients of the Moroccan production sites are Fiat, PSA, Renault, and Opel.
