Since almost a year, the Qatar Friendship Fund (QFF) has been launched in Tunisia to support Tunisian youth and enable them to achieve their entrepreneurial aspirations.
Intilaq, the result of a partnership between QFF, Tunisiana and Microsoft
Startup Factory (of Tunisiana, a subsidiary of the Ooredoo group), the QFF partner, has contributed to the development of knowledge and creativity by supporting Tunisian projects. Today, Startup Factory is taking on a new dimension in its history and is joining the aspirations of young Tunisians to realize their dreams and help them launch their own projects, encouraging business initiatives and merging this platform with that of Intilaq.
Today, the Intilaq platform was officially launched in the presence of its founders and new members, as a result of the efforts deployed by the Qatar Friendship Fund and its partners, namely Microsoft and Tunisiana, a subsidiary of the Ooredoo group.
The launch ceremony of the Intilaq platform was chaired by Abdallah Naceur Al Hamidi, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Tunisia and President of QFF, Kenneth Campbell, CEO of Tunisiana and President of Intialq, Mohamed Fkih, member of the board of directors of Tunisiana and Mohamed Bridaa, CEO of Microsoft.
A unique partnership for new opportunities
Kenneth Campbell and Mohamed Bridaa announced the launch of a unique partnership that will participate in the launch of many small and medium-sized enterprises and the creation of jobs in the ICT sector.
Intilaq's own training program will also rehabilitate new graduates to help them better use new technological platforms, enhance scientific research and capitalize on intellectual property to support and activate the private sector.
This platform will also transform scientific research into patents and encourage self-employment projects.
A large international business incubator will accelerate the implementation of projects through the supervision of entrepreneurs and will promote the exchange of expertise, knowledge and business initiatives. Thus, Intilaq promotes the creation of a new dynamic in the ICT sector in Tunisia through networking with the most influential actors in entrepreneurship on the national and international scenes, promoting exchanges between companies. Intilaq will finance entrepreneurs to encourage them to expand their sectors of activity to create jobs for young Tunisians.
Intilaq... a new impetus in cooperation
Mr. Al-Hamidi expressed his enthusiasm for this partnership by stating: "We are delighted with the way things are turning out today. This step is the realization of Qatari contributions and aspirations for Tunisia. Thus, Intilaq, whose funding is 28 million dinars, is here to encourage young Tunisians to take the lead and awaken in them the entrepreneurial spirit. QFF is working in this direction in order to give a significant impetus to young people, support them and accompany them step by step in their projects. We hope to have a direct impact on those who will build the Tunisia of tomorrow and thus strengthen the Tunisian economy in the long term."
For his part, Mr. Campbell stated: "This initiative will have a significant impact as it will put in place a unique economic platform allowing the development of the sector. Last year, Startup Factory met with great success which foreshadowed a bright future, but today we are shifting into higher gear with greater ambitions. The partnership between the Qatar Friendship Fund, Microsoft and Tunisiana will allow us to continue supporting entrepreneurs and converting their ideas into successful projects, in a sustainable and lasting way."
For his part, Mr. Bridaa highlighted the scale of this initiative by adding that "Intilaq is a first in Tunisia, it is a pioneering project that works to enhance, develop and strengthen the capacities of young Tunisians propelling innovation and creativity. In this sense, Microsoft will make its expertise available to them, particularly in the field of information technology."
It should be noted that the total funding for the Intilaq project amounts to 28.4 million Tunisian dinars. Intilaq aims to give Tunisian youth a unique opportunity to relaunch themselves by acquiring competitive capacity, enabling them to target the global market.
