Foreign Investments: 20,000 Jobs

A framework agreement to support 3 foreign companies, generating 20,000 jobs, was signed Friday in Tunis. This includes a seawater desalination project using renewable energies, agricultural projects planned in the south of the country, a cement factory in Siliana and an energy production unit in Gabes, in addition to a new tourist village in Djerba. The total cost of these projects, to be completed in 2013, is estimated at 6000 million Euros. Under this agreement, the Ministry of Professional Training and Employment undertakes to support foreign investors by assisting them in the various stages of project implementation.
The department also provides human resources to these companies, which are required to specify in advance the nature of the project, its location, its completion date, and its funding sources...
