World Bank Determined to Help Implement its Recommendations

The World Bank (WB) “will spare no effort” to provide assistance to Morocco in implementing the recommendations from the Bank's latest report on youth employment, assured the WB Youth Coordinator for the Mena region, Gloria La Cava.

In an interview published in the columns of the daily newspaper L'Economiste, Ms. La Cava affirmed that the implementation of the recommendations should involve inclusive programs, bringing together the public and private sectors and civil society organizations.

The implementation of the recommendations must also be done through policies aimed at improving the integration of young people into the job market, by improving training with effective job market opportunities and by combating informal employment, she added.

According to the World Bank report, released last Monday, nearly 30% of young people aged 15 to 29 are unemployed in Morocco. This category of young people living in cities is unemployed or does not attend the education system, according to this survey entitled “Promoting Opportunities and Youth Participation in Morocco” and carried out in 2011 by the WB among 2,883 young people.
