GIZ and its partners launch concrete actions to fight unemployment in Tunisia

The German Agency for International Cooperation "GIZ" (mandated by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development "BMZ"), is leading several concrete actions to fight unemployment in Tunisia.

Multiple and parallel actions with Knauf Tunisia to promote plastering professions
- On December 11, an awareness and promotion day for plastering professions and their job prospects took place at the Meknassy Vocational Training Center. This was organized by the Sidi Bouzid Economic Roundtable, the Sidi Bouzid Regional Office for Vocational Training and Employment, Knauf Tunisia, APII, and the GIZ Employment Fund. 300 participants attended this day, whose objectives included promoting the various professions related to gypsum, highlighting plastering professions and their job prospects, presenting the Meknassy Vocational Training Center, and showcasing advancements in the construction and public works sector.

- On December 16, Knauf Tunisia set up shop at the Gabes Drilling and Construction Center, not only to conduct demonstrations organized by Knauf Tunisia's technical teams, but also to implement various actions. 100 participants attended this day, whose program included specifically the definition of proper plaster in terms of sculpting and its marketing positioning, as well as initial training provided by the Drilling and Construction Center, the Pedagogical Council, and Knauf Tunisia.

- On December 17, Knauf Tunisia organized a presentation day on plaster systems in Gabes, at the Gabes National School of Engineers (ENIG). In the presence of several representatives and demonstrators from the Knauf Tunisia team, 65 participants, all students at ENIG, attended a demonstration of projected plaster (dry systems), coatings, and the implementation of Meknassy plaster and plasterboards. A partnership will be set up so that students can do their final year projects (PFE) in collaboration with Knauf Tunisia for the development of new products.

GIZ and the Mohamed Bouazizi Solidarity Employment Association promote the olive wood sector in Sidi Bouzid
Starting January 8, the Mohamed Bouazizi Solidarity Employment Association, supported by the GIZ Employment Fund, will begin a workshop that will allow twenty young people from Sidi Bouzid to train in olive wood professions and be hired by operating companies in the region. These training actions will be sustainable and cyclical.
The partners of this training action (Meknassy Training Center, the Regional Directorate of Vocational Training and Employment, the Regional Office of Crafts, the Association of Arts and Creativity of Olive Wood and the Governorate of Sidi Bouzid) have set up this project which has two components:

- the vocational training of about twenty young people (boys and girls)
- the professional integration of these young people once trained.

The training will take place at the Meknassy Training Center, specially equipped for this purpose. Young people will be followed and supported by the Association throughout the project.
