Zenata: A New City with 100,000 Jobs by 2030

Located in the Ain Harrouda municipality and in the second northern ring of Greater Casablanca, the new city of Zenata is a large-scale project aimed at raising the economic capital and its region to the rank of a major world metropolis.

With an area of 1830 hectares, this project, led by the CDG, aims to accommodate nearly 300,000 inhabitants and 100,000 jobs by 2030.

The new city of Zenata is mainly intended for the middle class and wants to break with current urban development for a rebalancing between the West and East of Casablanca by promoting social and spatial mixity.

This project is the result of a set of reflections carried out in collaboration with national and international experts, which have helped to establish solid fundamentals through numerous strategic studies. These have contributed to the development of a development plan that best meets the current and future needs of the territory, the region and the country.

A city with an innovative concept, and in line with international development standards, Zenata perfectly illustrates the main directives of the Moroccan Charter for the Environment and Sustainable Development and respects the socio-economic, environmental and financial feasibility aspects of the Eco-city.

The socio-economic axis is one of the major priorities of this concept and will lead, for example, to the relocation of 7000 families from very disadvantaged backgrounds.

Regarding the environment, 475 hectares of green spaces will run through the city for better regulation of the ambient temperature. Water retention basins for the wet season will be created to promote the reconstitution of groundwater and afforestation of the site.

The city of Zenata is also designed to increase collective mobility without resorting to the automobile. A multimodal station (train, RER, tram line, bus and taxi) will integrate the city into the Greater Casablanca mobility network. Linear parks, pedestrian walkways and cycle paths are also planned to make Zenata a green city.

It will be structured into several living units of approximately 28,500 inhabitants each, with at least 5% of green spaces planned within each unit.

These units will have all the necessary local amenities in terms of education (school, college...), health, commerce and leisure, to avoid residents having to travel.

This new city, which will extend along the Atlantic coast, promises to have everything to offer the best living conditions to its citizens.
