Tunisia: Hard Work and Perseverance

Through hard work and perseverance, Tunisia will achieve the goals of the Revolution and see the light at the end of the tunnel. Effort generates wealth.

Everyone must set aside differences and disagreements. The priority is the development of the national economy. Without a strong economy, can we claim a democratic foundation and social justice?
With a heavy legacy from the old regime, characterized by some 700,000 unemployed and a glaring regional imbalance, the state has no other choice. It must create jobs, focus its efforts on high-value-added projects and investments capable of ensuring significant recruitment.
Traditional sectors, such as agriculture and tourism, have shown their limits. One is too dependent on weather conditions. The other is weakened by political instability in the region. It faces stiff competition. It is also at the mercy of the economic and financial crises that have been shaking the world for several years.
The number of hotels closed due to instability and the security crisis is staggering. The hotel industry and related activities have suffered, for several seasons now, from chronic mismanagement, the marginalization of domestic tourism and the willingness of some, inclined to easy gain, to get rich too quickly at the expense of qualified but underpaid personnel, which has quite negative repercussions on the quality of services. An employee can only give good results and the best of themselves if they are paid fairly, motivated, and feel comfortable.
To remedy a situation deemed critical, it is urgent to consider a massive transfer of technology, to set up a diversified production structure with high added value and to rely on less random sectors. The private sector must become more dynamic and engage in national investments in order to be less dependent on foreign countries. The state will make an additional effort by being more concerned with saving future generations and resorting to borrowing only in cases of extreme necessity.
