Launch of the Digital Project "Al-Raed" and the Government Projects 3000 New Jobs
The pioneering project for the true development of the content industry in Tunisia, dubbed "Al-Raed", was launched on Tuesday, March 1, 2011, during a press conference given by Messrs. Ezzeddine Beschaouch, Minister of Culture, and Said Aydi, Minister of Professional Training and Employment, in Tunis.
This strategic project, launched by the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Professional Training and Employment, and the Secretary of State for Communication Technologies, represents a truly national challenge for Tunisia.
According to Mr. Aydi, "Al-Raed's mission is to establish the basic core of a true content industry that will create tens of thousands of jobs in the medium term and position Tunisia as a leader in industries such as electronic archiving, the dissemination of Arabic content, translation, and the integration of this content into the web and mobile, and to position Tunisia as a true creator and actor in the content industry."
This project, with a budget of 80 million dinars, provides for the digitization, indexing, and referencing on the web and mobile of 200,000 books, manuscripts, and journals from the national library, or about 50 million pages.
With "Al-Raed", the government expects the creation of 3,000 new jobs, particularly for young graduates.
