The Number of PCs in Tunisia Skyrockets

The goal of equipping Tunisian households with computers, aiming for one million PCs by the end of 2009, was almost achieved ahead of schedule, within 3,000 units.

Indeed, the number of computers in Tunisia reached 997,000 units by the end of 2008, compared to 767,500 at the end of 2007, an increase of 30%. At this rate, the result should exceed all predictions, with nearly 1,300,000 PCs in Tunisia.

Moreover, according to ATI, the number of IT auditors in the field of security and audit of computer systems reached 136 auditors at the end of 2008, compared to 128 in 2007.

The year 2008 was also marked by the first launch of accreditation for private companies in the field of security and audit of computer systems, in order to assist the various sectors whose activities are based on networks and computer applications. This is a promising field characterized by a sustained pace of investment and project creation.

Regarding remote electronic services for citizens and businesses, the number of electronic signature certificates more than doubled to reach 2,927 certificates compared to 1,512 in 2007.
