Boring work is better done at the office.

According to a study by American researcher Glenn Dutcher, it seems that you perform repetitive work faster at the office than at home. For creative work, however, home would be a more suitable place.

In his study 'The Effects of Telecommuting on Productivity', conducted in collaboration with a group of scientists, Dutcher investigated the link between the nature of the task and the productivity of workers at home and in the office.

In the study, 125 participants had to complete a repetitive and boring task, as well as a creative job. Half of the participants completed the task at home, the other half in a laboratory.

Especially men and procrastinators

Individuals who had to deliver the boring task at home seemed 6 to 10% less productive than those who received the task to be completed at the office. From this experience, it also emerged that it is mainly men and those who tend to postpone who lost the most time at home.

Home-based workers who were tasked with completing a creative task were, on the other hand, 11 to 20% more productive than the lab workers who received the same task to perform.
