Morocco prepares a preliminary report on Employment and Youth

RABAT -- The Economic and Social Council (CES) of Morocco is preparing a preliminary report on "Employment and Youth" and the "Social Charter" which will be presented to the general assembly of the CES on July 21.

The announcement was made Monday in Rabat by the president of the CES, Chakib Benmoussa, who presented to the press the missions and composition of the CES structures as well as the priority issues examined by the Council since its creation on February 21, 2011.

According to the CES, working groups, in charge of examining the social charter, youth employment, the governance of public services and the relationship between the administration and the citizen and users of the public service, have heard 114 actors from civil society and concerned public organizations.

These are representatives of the Moroccan government in charge of the interior, economy and finance, trade, industry and new technologies, social development, family and solidarity, modernization of public sectors and general and economic affairs, as well as the Central Authority for the Prevention of Corruption, the National Council for Human Rights and associations working in the fields of women's rights, children's rights, people with specific needs, training and good governance.

Other hearings were also held with officials from trade union organizations (UMT, CDT, FDT, UGTM and UNMT), government actors in charge of higher education, employment and vocational training, the High Commission for Planning, ANAPEC, OFPPT, socio-professional associations and organizations, banks, associations for the promotion of employment and self-employment among young people, and alternative financing, as well as with associations from civil society working in the fields of human rights, environment and culture, recalls a statement from the CES.

Referring to the composition of the CES office, Mr. Benmoussa indicated that it is composed of five members representing the categories of experts, unions, professional organizations, organizations working in the fields of social economy and associative activity, and members of Rights.
