Morocco, a link between France and sub-Saharan Africa

Face to a growing African market, Morocco is able to become a "link" between France and sub-Saharan Africa in terms of investments, said Mr. Christophe Lecourtier, general director of the French Agency for the international development of businesses (Ubifrance).

"Africa is becoming a continent that is changing economically and is among the areas emerging stronger from the crisis, like emerging countries", explained Mr. Lecourtier in an interview published Friday on the website of the French economic monthly L'Expansion.

For the co-organizer, alongside Maroc Export, of the first edition of the "Morocco-France-Francophone Africa" Business Forum, held in Casablanca, Morocco must "be a gateway for French businesses to Africa".

According to Mr. Lecourtier, "Casablanca is the main hub for travel in Francophone Africa, the country's banking network is among the most active, while the training of African executives is increasingly being done in Morocco".

For French companies, "going through Morocco is not a miracle solution, but a path to follow to regain a foothold in Africa", notes Mr. Lecourtier.

The French Agency for the International Development of Enterprises is a public industrial and commercial establishment under the authority of the Minister of Economy, Industry and Employment, the Secretary of State in charge of Foreign Trade, and the General Directorate of the Treasury and Economic Policy.

The "Morocco-France-Francophone Africa" Business Forum brings together in Casablanca a range of economic operators representing Morocco, France and six sub-Saharan African countries.

Organized by Maroc Export and the French Agency for the International Development of Enterprises (Ubifrance), this forum is a meeting and exchange place for business people and an opportunity to present the economic, legal and competitive environment of Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Gabon, Ivory Coast, Mali and Senegal.
