E-Commerce Expo Trade Show Aims to Become the Leading Event for Innovative Technologies

The Moroccan National E-commerce Federation (FNEM) will hold the second edition of the E-Commerce Expo trade show at the Casablanca International Fair (OFEC) from May 2 to 4, 2013. The show expects 200 exhibitors and over 6,000 visitors, and will be the first in Morocco to feature videoconferences with renowned partners such as LinkedIn and 3WC.

Following the success of the first edition in 2011, and to enhance the professionalism of the organization, the event has been entrusted to Actif Events, a specialized service provider. Over 60 exhibitors and 3,000 visitors attended in 2011, including 29% business leaders, 31% marketing, sales, or communication directors, 10% IT directors, and 8% purchasing directors. In short, a knowledgeable audience who loved the show, as 91% of 2011 visitors plan to return in 2013. Perfectly aligned with the 2013 Numeric Plan, which commits the Kingdom to the future and the development of new technologies, the 2013 E-Commerce Expo aims to welcome over 200 exhibitors and more than 6,000 visitors. "Moroccan and foreign exhibitors and investors will participate in this event.

It is clear that the e-commerce sector recorded a growth rate of approximately 70% in 2012, but only two annual trade shows are dedicated to this theme, while in France, a dozen e-commerce events are organized each year. That said, the success of this show represents a real challenge; we aspire to achieve the expected objectives," emphasizes Abdelmajid Benmoussa, CEO of Actif Events. Leveraging new technologies, the 2013 show will be innovative, being the first in Morocco to feature videoconferences with renowned partners like LinkedIn and 3WC.

In addition, a TV studio will be set up in the middle of the show as an entertainment platform. But the success of this show is also ensured by a reduced price list thanks to online sales, directly from the customer to the show organizer.
To further increase the interest in E-Commerce Expo 2013, 150 e-merchants, most of them FNEM members, will spread across more than 1,000 m2 to showcase their activities.

This professional trade show will be an opportunity to take stock and highlight innovative solutions and technologies. "Many conferences on the latest technological developments will be led by Moroccan and foreign experts who will increase the attraction of professionals for this now essential event," adds El Amine Elsarhani El Idrissi, President of the FNEM. Furthermore, B2B meetings will be organized in the form of personalized meetings offering companies the opportunity to meet to develop new partnerships.

E-commerce is growing rapidly
In its report on the e-commerce and e-payment market for 2012, Maroc Telecom notes a 45% increase in revenue and a 75% increase in the number of transactions over the past year. The 16 million connected Moroccans seriously embraced e-commerce in 2012. Thus, the number of online transactions exceeded 1.25 million for the Maroc Telecommerce platform.

This 75% increase in transactions compared to 2011 is linked to a 45% increase in revenue generated in this way, reaching 743 million DH. In addition, the 18% decrease in the average basket value, which stands at 600 DH for credit card payments, is due both to the popularization of credit card payments and to the evolution of the online offer towards simpler and therefore cheaper products.

FNEM, a young player
Created in September 2011, the FNEM federates and represents e-commerce and distance selling players with the aim of defending their interests. It already has over 191 members and has organized its activities around four commissions: communication to promote the FNEM and its members, institutional to represent the FNEM before the highest authorities, E-consumers to manage potential disputes through arbitration and standardize professional practices in its relations with consumers, and finally E-merchant which aims to create professional standards in accordance with ISO 9001 version 2008.
