• To improve skills and job prospects for young people in the region.
• Almost 1000 young trainees trained each year.
His Majesty King Mohammed VI inaugurated the Fnideq Specialized Institute of Applied Technology (ISTA) on Monday. The institute represents a total investment of 22 million dirhams (MDH).
This new institution will strengthen professional training in the region, help young people enter the workforce through a wide range of training opportunities, and provide the local economy with skilled workers.
Developed by the Office of Vocational Training and Labor Promotion (OFPPT) as part of the integrated economic and social upgrading program for the Northern region, the Fnideq ISTA can accommodate nearly 1000 young trainees annually at the specialized technician, technician, qualification, and specialization levels. Training courses cover the following fields: business management, computer networks, business accounting, secretarial and office work, industrial maintenance electricity, electrical installation, general multi-skilled mechanic, qualified garment cutter, refrigeration mechanic, building electricity, aluminum carpentry, and plumbing.
Built on an area of 3000 m2, the Fnideq Specialized Institute of Applied Technology has seven workshops, two specialized rooms, five classrooms, a reading room, and an administrative block.
The ISTA-Fnideq required a total budget of 22 MDH, including 16 million for studies and construction and 6 million for equipment acquisition. Its creation is a concrete response to the training and skills needs defined by the OFPPT in close partnership with the economic operators of this rapidly growing region, which fully benefits from the spin-offs of the major economic projects launched by H.M. King Mohammed VI in the northern provinces.
This project, which strengthens the office's network in the Tetouan province, brings the total to 17 institutions with a total capacity of 10,800 trainees in 2011-2012, a 443% increase compared to the 2002/2003 year, when the Tetouan province only had 7 institutions for 1990 trainees. It provides services tailored to the needs of young people and businesses, whether in initial, qualifying, or continuing education, not to mention support for youth employability and the promotion of entrepreneurship.
