The US Department of State, through its Bureau of Oceans, International Environmental, and Scientific Affairs, will grant $450,000 to Morocco for the creation of "green" jobs, according to CNSnews.
According to the department, Morocco has set a goal to become one of the world's largest sustainable economies before 2020, particularly through the creation of "green jobs" in renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, natural and environmental resource management, and improved environmental technologies.
"Morocco's green growth strategy focuses on three areas," the Bureau specifies: "energy, food, and environmental security." This also includes solar and wind energy, sustainable agriculture, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The kingdom, linked to the United States by a declaration on environmental cooperation since 2006, will help increase green job growth through partnerships, education and training, innovation, and green technology transfers, the Bureau concludes.
