Opting for a profession or sector of activity based on vocation? This still exists, but it is now accepted that the prospect of having a comfortable salary is an essential criterion. It remains difficult to make the right choice, as salary practices differ between sectors or even within a given sector. The size of companies and their nature (large or medium-sized enterprise, subsidiary of a multinational or family business) are also decisive factors. The fact remains that some functions are better paid than others, given their importance to the company, but also the state of the employment market. Based on the 2010 remuneration surveys by Diorh and LMS firms, we sought to identify those that stand out. Thus, to earn a good living, it is better to first find a position in sales. Regardless of the level of experience, all functions combined, the salaries offered to executives in this function remain the highest. Almost all sectors are looking for salespeople, and nearly 35% of recruitments concern this population, all positions combined.
In this function, senior salespeople, technical salespeople, key account managers, and business development managers are the most in-demand. For example, the salary of a key account manager can range from 200,000 to 500,000 DH gross annual, depending on their experience, the sector of activity, the size of the company, etc. "In these cases, remuneration is very volatile and varies according to the salesperson's performance," specifies Houcine Berbou, a consultant manager at LMS-ORH. The highest salaries are found in highly competitive sectors, including banking, chemistry, and parachemistry. This is also the case for finance and management functions. Management and accounting jobs are always in demand but increasingly require management skills. Financial analyst, client manager, actuary, fund manager, and other advisors, specialization is becoming more advanced and the remuneration is commensurate with the importance given to these profiles. As an indication, an auditor can earn more than 600,000 DH gross annually. The same goes for a management controller. A financial director can earn up to one million dirhams if they land in a large company...

The latter is now among the most sought-after functions. Salaries range from 600,000 to 900,000 DH for a logistics manager and from 220,000 to 500,000 DH for a manager. According to Ghizlain Laabi, head of remuneration surveys at Diorh, "the salary of a purchasing manager increased by around 69% over a 5-year period, between 2005 and 2010." The agri-food and retail sectors were the first to recognize the importance of these jobs.
Human resources are not to be outdone, since certain positions, notably that of HR manager, are starting to gain importance. "In some companies, we are even seeing the recruitment of HR managers by strategic area of activity," notes Houcine Berbou. Salaries range from 260,000 to 480,000 DH gross annually.
