Internship Offers Increase at the Expense of Direct Job Offers

• During the first ten months of 2010, job placements decreased by 3.9%, or -4.7% (8,834) for direct placements and +0.6% for placements following an internship (16,461). Job offers, on the other hand, increased by 12.1%, or 150,420 offers, driven by a significant increase in internship offers, namely 113% (37,744), compared to a decrease in direct offers of 3.2% (112,676). Job applications increased by 4.9% with an increase in new registrations of 20.5% (132,229 applications).
Regarding higher education graduates, placements decreased by 20.7% by the end of October 2010, or 19,309 placements, while applications increased by 21.1% for new registrations (46,412). In professional training, these applications increased by 7.4%, or 10,081 applications.
For employment promotion programs, a 20.4% increase was observed by the end of October 2010, or 170,669 new contracts. This increase mainly occurred in the area of the contract for reintegration into active life (CRVA), namely 311.3%, followed by the contract for the integration of higher education graduates (CIDES) with 87%, the contract for adaptation and professional integration (CIAP) with 83.1%, internships for initiation into professional life (SIVP) with 40.5%, the solidarity employment contract (21.5%) and the program supporting small business promoters (16.5%). It should be noted that the state's assumption of 50% of salaries decreased sharply, namely 99.1%. Projects funded by the BTS decreased by 0.9%.
