For the second agreement, signed by Messrs. Mezouar, Boussaid, Ahmed Reda Chami, Minister of Industry, Trade and New Technologies, and Miguel Mas Amengual, director of Urbagolf, it provides for the implementation of a tourism and housing program in the old city of Essaouira (province of Safi), indicates a statement from the Prime Ministry.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister stressed that the two agreements are part of the government's efforts to promote investment, economic and social development and increase job opportunities.

He recalled the approval on Tuesday by the investment committee of 14 investment projects totaling 7.777 billion DH, adding that it had examined 62 projects since November 28, 2007, with a budget of 27.1 billion DH, expected to generate 15,800 permanent jobs.

M. El Fassi also emphasized the importance of the "Biladi" plan, which aims to promote domestic tourism through a product adapted to the domestic market.

In this regard, he welcomed the project that will be carried out in the province of Safi by the Spanish group Urbagolf, which should promote economic and social development and create job opportunities in the region.

According to the statement, the agreement concluded between the government and CDG concerning the development of the "Imi Ouaddar" site in Agadir is part of the "Biladi" plan, which provides for the creation of tourist sites with a total accommodation capacity of 30,000 beds in the form of tourist residences and campsites.

The new tourist site will be developed over an area of 33,000 hectares, with an investment of 450 million DH expected to generate 285 permanent direct jobs.

For the Urbagolf tourism project, it extends over an area of 300 hectares with an accommodation capacity of 10,800 beds. It concerns the construction of nine hotels, a marina, a golf course, tourist residences and entertainment facilities.

Urbagolf is committed to implementing this project in three phases over a period of 9 years, with a total investment of 3.765 billion DH, which will create some 2,000 direct and permanent jobs.

The signing ceremony of these two agreements was attended by the Minister Delegate in charge of Economic and General Affairs, Mr. Nizar Baraka, as well as representatives of the departments concerned.
