Ubisoft Campus: Access to Future Jobs

The French multinational Ubisoft announces the opening on October 13th of the Ubisoft Campus Casablanca, the first video game and animation film school in Morocco. In partnership with Sigma Technologie, this high-level international training center will train around 150 highly qualified new employees by 2010.

Located within Ubisoft's studio in Casanearshore, the Campus aims to meet the very high demand for skilled labor in an industry poised to become a center of excellence in Morocco. Selected students will benefit from a 12-month, free training program, with guaranteed employment at Ubisoft or Sigma afterwards. French teachers and Moroccan professionals from Ubisoft will teach all the skills necessary for careers in 3D graphics, 3D animation, and level design.

Indeed, the global video game industry is booming; its size is already equivalent to Morocco's GDP ($50 billion expected in the near future), and growth prospects are considerable, resulting in significant recruitment needs. For example, in 2005, the creative workforce of the world's top 5 companies (including Ubisoft) grew by 60%.

To meet these challenges, Ubisoft Casablanca's workforce will have tripled in 4 years by 2010, with a total workforce of 200 employees. The quality of video games from Ubisoft Casablanca's studio demonstrates the talent of Moroccan creators, who over the years have developed rare skills in the sector. The studio has just finished production of two games entirely created in Morocco, which will be released worldwide next Christmas: Prince of Persia and Rayman Raving Rabbids on DS.

The Ubisoft Campus has proven itself in Montreal for 4 years, providing the local industry with a new generation of talented creators. Managed by the Quebec Cegep de Matane school, the Casablanca Campus works in partnership with the prestigious École nationale du jeu et des médias interactifs numériques (ENJMIN) in Angoulême, France. Upon completion of the training, the Ubisoft Campus in Casablanca will award a Canadian diploma to future recruits of Ubisoft or Sigma.

To encourage young Moroccan talent, Ubisoft organized a national creativity contest for recruitment, open until September 15, 2008. The first prize will reward the best designer in all categories (character, animation or game idea) with 20,000 dirhams.

Campus applicants can seek help from the Ubisoft team on site to complete their application, which must be submitted by September 15th at the latest.
