Managing change, its acceptance, and mastering its components are challenges that a manager often faces.
Generally, understanding the mechanisms of resistance to change is a considerable asset for successfully managing this reorganization.
What are the different organizational levels and how to succeed in this change?
The three levels of organization
Company organization and its business perimeters
Many organizational transformations can appear during the internalization of key functions and the outsourcing of other functions considered peripheral.
Production organization
A universal model, Lean Production or "just-in-time production", seems to have imposed itself. We produce what we need just at the right time, neither in advance to avoid creating stock, nor late to avoid disrupting the next manufacturing step.
Work organization
Who does what? How to motivate employees? What leeway and autonomy is given?
Succeeding with change
Whatever the desired change project, it is essential to define or explain its objectives, provided that we do not fall into some traps.
Ignoring resistance
If people resistant to change, those who are called "grumblers", are not listened to, they will circumvent orders, simply will not apply them, or will apply them too literally until they obtain a counter effect.
Know that if you take the time to convince an opponent, they can then become one of your best allies.
Mistaking fear for ill will
Any organizational change generates a feeling of fear in a certain number of people. In this case, the manager must acknowledge this fear, reassure the employees and, in some cases, why not, consider personalized help.
Not communicating
To obtain everyone's support, you must start by talking. To remain silent is to give free rein to rumors which are often more pessimistic than reality.
