Morocco - The 2nd phase of the INDH plans to create 5,000 income-generating activities and 50,000 jobs.

The second phase of the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) 2011-2015 plans to create 5,000 income-generating activities (IGAs) and 50,000 jobs, said Ms. Nadira El Guermai, governor, national coordinator of the INDH.

Speaking Thursday in Taounate, during the 14th edition of the "INDH Media Thursday," jointly organized by the National Coordination of the National Initiative for Human Development and the province of Taounate on the theme "Social economy: inclusion of women and young people through income-generating activities," Ms. El Guermai indicated that the second phase launched in July 2011 in Jerada was characterized in particular by a rise in IGAs, specifying that a budget of 1.12 billion DH was mobilized for the realization of these socio-economic activities.

She also recalled the content of the royal speech of July 30, 2009, which emphasizes the imperative of focusing on micro-projects generating stable jobs and income, also noting that the second phase of the implementation of the INDH has made the promotion of micro-projects generating employment one of its priorities.

Ms. El Guermai also recalled that the INDH had allowed in its first phase (2005-2010) the realization of more than 22,000 projects for nearly 5.2 million beneficiaries for a total investment of 14 billion DH through the principle of participation of populations in the processes of expressing needs using participatory diagnoses, identification, development, implementation and monitoring of projects, estimating that more than 3,700 IGAs were created through calls for projects, thus guaranteeing a decent life for the targeted population. These IGAs, she said, have favored the integration of the population in difficult situations into the economic fabric and the emergence of new entrepreneurs, in addition to the enhancement of the skills of the targeted population and the consolidation of the economic structures of production cooperatives.

Ms. El Guermai also highlighted the overall objectives of the INDH communication strategy (2011-2015), particularly respect for the values and principles of participation, partnership, convergence and planning, the involvement of the population in the different phases of the implementation of the INDH and the appropriation of achievements by beneficiaries, noting that this communication strategy aimed to support the implementation of INDH programs at the local and institutional levels. This is how the "INDH Media Thursday" presents itself as a means of communication that offers the opportunity for debates and interactions between journalists and actors in charge of implementing INDH projects and actions at the territorial level, she noted in this context.

This media meeting aims to take stock of achievements at the provincial level of Taounate, share achievements and experiences and promote the activities and products of associations and cooperatives in the province working in human development through the release of collective initiatives and the creation of wealth and employment. It was also marked by a visit to several INDH projects, including the fig and apricot drying unit, the olive oil production unit and the cooperatives and associations carrying out IGA projects.
