Morocco – Canada: A $260 Million Investment Finalized

A state-of-the-art mega amphitheater, the product of a Moroccan-Canadian private partnership, is planned for one of Morocco's three largest cities: Marrakech, Casablanca, or Rabat.
Indeed, the Moroccan Ambassador to Canada, Nouzha Chekrouni, presided over a signing ceremony in Ottawa for a letter of intent between MABI Group, the Quebec company David Smith Architecte, and the Bell Centre.
The document was initialed by Hakam Hmiddouch, project initiator and Chairman of the Board of Directors of MABI Group based in Montreal; David Smith of David Smith Architecte; and Alain Gauthier, Vice-President and CEO of the Montreal Canadiens hockey club.
This state-of-the-art cultural infrastructure, with Marrakech, Casablanca, and Rabat competing to host it, will create more than 100 direct and permanent jobs.
According to the project leaders, the amphitheater will host world-class shows and concerts and attract 800,000 to 1 million North American tourists to the kingdom each year.
