Morocco: The "Vision 2020" is confirmed in the tourism sector.

The results of Morocco's tourism activity for the first half of 2013 show a substantial increase in tourist arrivals (+9%), mainly driven by the rise in foreign tourist arrivals, as well as a total increase in overnight stays in classified tourist accommodation establishments (+16%). Revenue generated by this activity increased by more than 17% to reach 21.2 billion dirhams (more than 2 billion Euros).

This increase in overnight stays affected most of Morocco's tourist cities, namely: Casablanca, Tangier, Fes, and Essaouira-Mogador, as well as the two tourist hubs of Marrakech and Agadir.

Thus, by maintaining its offensive actions in emerging markets and continuing to ensure a strong presence in traditional markets, in line with the strategic axes of Vision 2020, in the medium and long term, the efforts of the Moroccan Sovereign are rewarded, even during a period of economic crisis in Europe.

It is true that the Kingdom's political and social stability in the Maghreb, as well as the control of security, have reassured tour operators, who in turn have strengthened their confidence in the Moroccan market.

A tourism market strengthened by very important natural and historical assets and a rich and diverse cultural heritage of Morocco that makes it a haven of pleasure. Is Morocco not the country of four seasons that summarizes the entire African continent, with its forests, deserts, dunes, mountains, waterfalls, green meadows and Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts?

Tourism in Morocco is increasingly affirming itself as a real priority of its development plan, given its positive economic and social impact.

Morocco, a haven of pleasure for those who know how to enjoy their holidays with its tourist offer of multiple choices that suit all tastes.

Thus, despite a global economic crisis and the increase in unemployment in Europe, Morocco remains the favorite destination for many vacationers.

It should be noted that as part of the actions to promote the destination of the Moroccan Saharan provinces, the city of Dakhla recently hosted ten of the largest French mix and incentive agencies in order to highlight the assets of this region, which will benefit from a tourist dynamic within the framework of Vision 2020.

By 2020, nearly 70% of tourists in the Oued Eddahab-Lagouira region will come from three target markets: France, Spain, and the United Kingdom. In order to meet the arrival targets of Vision 2020 in the region, air service will need to reach 13 weekly frequencies.

Thus, the three European capitals, Paris, Madrid, and London will be connected to Dakhla through regular flights. These capitals will serve as regional hubs and will connect Dakhla to the main tourist-generating basins in the major European metropolises.

In conclusion, it is clear that these results demonstrate that "Vision 2020" and its "Plan Azur" continue to keep their promises and that, under the impetus of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco is relying on the tourism sector to create jobs, build infrastructure, and bring Morocco into the top 10 tourist destinations. Today, tourism has become a key sector in the Moroccan economy, and it faces a promising future.
