The tourism sector, a true engine of economic and social development in Morocco, has achieved positive and encouraging results over the last three years, with increases in arrivals (+8%), bed capacity (+30,000 beds), and job creation (+50,000 jobs).
This was highlighted by the Minister of Tourism, Lahcen Haddad, at the opening of the 11th Tourism Conference on Monday, September 29, 2014, in Rabat. According to the same source, the sector, which has shown resilience in a difficult international economic climate, also generated cumulative foreign currency revenue estimated at 174 billion dirhams (MMDH) and a turnover of more than 310 billion dirhams.
For Mr. Haddad, "these results demonstrate the resilience of the sector and its ability to overcome crises and overcome the difficulties encountered." He added: "To strengthen these results, the government confirms its commitment to making the tourism industry a real lever for development and a source of wealth and job creation for young people."
