Following a ministerial council dedicated to the Gafsa governorate on Friday, the head of government, Habib Essid, announced measures aimed, on the one hand, at boosting development and employment in this region, and, on the other hand, at allowing the immediate resumption of activities in the phosphate sector.

In this sense, he instructed the Minister to the Head of Government in charge of Relations with Constitutional Institutions and Civil Society to contact national organizations, human rights defense structures and representatives of civil society in the region, in order to verify and control, starting next week, previous promises in the field of employment.

On the other hand, the head of government announced the reactivation of environmental companies, through the establishment of their work program and the service delivery mechanism with the beneficiary structures, stressing that the payment of salaries will depend on the presence and effective work.

He also indicated that an audit will take place concerning the management methods of the Compagnie des phosphates de Gafsa (CPG) and its subsidiaries, in order to consolidate good governance.

Furthermore, Habib Essid mentioned the start of the preparation of a program to address the gaps in CPG's human resources needs, estimated at 1500 agents, for the 2016/2018 period.

He also decided to start the evaluation of the performance of regional officials at all levels and the replacement of those who have not fulfilled their duty.
