A job relocation often means reorganizing family life. Housing, spouse's employment, children's schooling or childcare, administrative procedures... You need to plan everything to move with peace of mind.
First on the list of preparations: finding new housing. If you are required to change your main residence and your company is subject to the 1% housing, you may be eligible, under certain conditions, for financial assistance for your housing costs. The amount of this grant, called Mobili-Pass, is between 1,600 and 3,200 euros. To benefit from this aid, the distance between your current main residence and your next home must be more than 70 kilometers.
With or without your spouse? Can he or she follow you to your assigned city or region? Consider together the job opportunities available to him or her. Carefully calculate the budget implications of the different possibilities: resignation, travel expenses, dual domiciliation…
Regarding the children. Find out about the list of suitable schools near your future address. If you have young children, you need to find available registered childcare providers, as well as places in daycare centers or nurseries.
A "turnkey" relocation. Do you not have the time or the energy to deal with all the procedures? You can use the services of a relocation and mobility company. It allows you to benefit from personalized support at your departure location and at your arrival location: help in finding housing, schools, a new bank, support for your spouse in their job search… This service is paid and may be covered by the Mobili-Pass aid, or even by your company. Check with your human resources department.
