In the framework of the European DiaMed program, the agency for international cooperation and local development in the Mediterranean (ACIM), launches a support system for business creation for Tunisian, Algerian and Moroccan diasporas, in partnership with Anima Invest Network and ADER Méditerranée in France, CONECT Tunisia, the Foundation for Business Creation in Morocco and Medafco Consulting in Algeria.
This system aims to support project leaders of Algerian, Moroccan or Tunisian origin living in Europe, wishing to create a business and invest in their countries of origin.
Selected project leaders will benefit from personalized and free support, both from Europe and in the Maghreb, through Tunisian partners.
This support aims to secure the investments of project leaders, by providing them with support in their administrative procedures and the development of their business plan, and by connecting them with key players in the business world in the Maghreb.
Information meetings will be held soon in France, Belgium, Germany and Switzerland, in order to meet potential business creators.
DiaMed in brief
The DiaMed project is based on the combination of innovative capacities from the North and South of the Mediterranean and investment opportunities in the South, as an economic lever.
It has a budget of 2.3 million euros, or approximately 4.6 million dinars, over three years, 80% of which is financed by the Delegation of the European Union in Algeria.
DiaMed is implemented by the contractor ADER Méditerranée. Six French, Algerian, Moroccan and Tunisian partners pool their networks and experience, with the aim of developing sectors of activity and strategic niches in the Maghreb.
The main drivers of this project are the commitment of local institutional and economic actors, the involvement of diasporas, the valorization of young graduates from the Maghreb, the promotion of entrepreneurship and the circulation of skills.
By 2015, DiaMed intends to contribute to local development and strengthen the entrepreneurial fabric of the Maghreb countries, through activities supporting investment projects, innovation transfer, training, coaching and personalized support.
This project is based on five major actions:
Strengthening the professionalization of local actors supporting business creation;
Encouraging and supporting the diasporas of the Maghreb countries to undertake in their country of origin;
Coaching young Maghreb entrepreneurs to improve their visibility and develop their experience, in order to structure a project with an international dimension;
Strengthening the capacities of entrepreneurs in the fields of green technologies;
Training young Maghreb graduates from higher education in the management of innovative companies and introducing them to very small enterprises (VSEs), small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and small and medium-sized industries (SMIs).
