The Education for Employment Foundation presents its progress report. IT training, sales, job searching…
More qualifications for better professional integration, this is the strategy of the Moroccan Foundation for Education for Employment (EFE-Morocco).
By involving businesses, the education system and young people both locally and internationally, EFE-Morocco aims to help reduce youth unemployment through training programs to international standards, directly linked to the needs of the job market.
In partnership with The Master
Card Foundation, EFE launched the "El Morad" training program in 2011: a 3-year project to improve access to training for young people from disadvantaged socioeconomic backgrounds. This program is increasingly successful according to Myriam Kadmiri, CEO of EFE-Morocco: “In 2011, 700 young people were admitted. This year, we are expecting 5200 applicants, and we estimate that by 2014, 6600 young people will benefit from this training.”
To successfully carry out its projects, EFE-Morocco has established partnerships with both public and private sectors to promote almost immediate integration into the professional world.
On the company side, large groups are contributing. For example, Ryad Mogador Hotels committed by sponsoring 24 young people in 2007. They benefited from an apprenticeship program (hotel internship + training). Subsequently, the hotel group hired some of them in its various hotel units in Marrakech.
The same system applies to BMCE, which collaborated with EFE-Morocco in 2008, welcoming 24 interns into its company, a third of whom were subsequently hired as versatile cashiers.
Many government agencies are also participating in the project. For example, the Ministry of Youth and Sports has, since the beginning of these training sessions, provided EFE-Morocco with equipped training rooms in youth centers in the regions where the Foundation is located. In addition, a memorandum of understanding was signed in 2012 with the Ministry of Tourism to provide training programs to students of public tourism schools during their final year of training. As for the recruitment site amaljob.com, it provides the Foundation with its entire database of registered job seekers.
The Foundation does not intend to stop there; a new project concerning the IT sector is underway: ‘Programming for the Future.’ In partnership with the Accenture Foundation, EFE-Morocco wants to equip young people with the necessary skills to succeed in this sector.
